Surrender.... Again

Been dragging my feet and procrastinating in my walk.  Randomly reading a blog today and came upon an entry by Dale Partridge with the title Availability is the Fight.  Honestly, I clicked at it just to have a read and what do you know?  The word surrender pops up in the short article.  How much of a coincidence can one get when it happens time and again?  Here are some quotes from the article which I found is quite profound and truly "define" what surrender means:

"He told disciples to surrender every dimension of their lives to God.  Their work, their fears, their family, their success.  Nothing shows your faith more perfectly than your willingness to relinquish the authority of your life and follow any directive given by your leader.  Surrender is the proof of real relationship and real conviction.  Surrender is the true evangelism.

It's not easy.  It's tough.  I'm not sure if I can do it.  I'm even afraid to try it.  How does one take a step to do so?  I honestly, truly do not know.  I guess... I need to start somewhere.

These verses stirred my heart....

Was doing my homework when I came across these few verses:

John 6:35
Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said," I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.  Do you believe this?"

Jesus is life and life is Jesus.  I felt as though these verses are telling me, when you have Jesus you have life.  Do you want life? Then have a want for Jesus too, for He is life.

Somehow this picture reminds me of my freedom in life when Jesus is in my life.... May it bless you as I am blessed...

The meaning of my name

A friend was asking me to help her do a search for a name for her nephew and I was giving some suggestion when I thought, why not give my name a search?

Whilst doing a search on my name; it seems that my name's origin is from Hebrew.  Woah, that blows me away.  I mean, come on... God, You must be joking right?  That was my thought initially.  The meaning?

Sue = Hebrew origin which means Lily (pretty flower? graceful? I remember dancing lily)
A = Hebrew origin which means grace/ favour (God, are you kidding me? grace? lily; to me is associated with grace, so the stunning effect of my name)

Faint, God, You never fail to shock me eh?  I never knew that the totality of my name carries Your grace and favour.  I've seen Your favour in my life, I've seen Your grace, and accepted it in my life.  But to know that Your grace and favour follows me even before I knew You... that, I am speechless.

That's my second stunned moment by the way.

Third one coming up.  In chinese, my middle name is pronounced as "shu".  My friend explained to me this; your name means, virtuous.  Gentle and virtuous. I never realised that my chinese name and my english name tied together so well.  It's like God is speaking to me through my name.  For I am the Lord Your God, you have found favour in me, and I have granted you grace.  Be the woman that I have called you to be, gentle and virtuous (Proverbs 31).

Oh Lord my God, You truly know me.  Even before i was in my mother's womb, you have already called me by my name.  You know me even before I was born.  Who am i to doubt God?  Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth would care to know my name? But yet Lord, You've shown me again and again that You favour me and You love me.  Thank You Lord for Your grace, because it is through Your grace I have life.

Lord, I seek Your will and through this, I realise one thing.  Your will for my life is to be the woman You have made me to be.  A woman living her life to reflect the grace You have poured into her life, whose favour is found in You.  A woman described in Proverbs 31, not perfect in that sense, but striving to be the woman whom God has called me to be.

Oh, how majestic that You are.  Praise You oh Lord my God for You are worthy, so worthy to be praised.

God So Love the World

Was reading JaesonMa's blog and was very touched by his entry on 365 days of love.  The song Worthy is the Lamb by Hillsong came to mind...

Thank You Lord for Your love.  Thank You for being You oh Lord.  Thank You for just being You....

Independence

Was doing devo when I came across this passage written by Selwyn Hughes:

"Observing the ways in which those who are not yet Christians deal with their deep inbuilt longings has always interested me greatly. Some just deny them. They pretend they are not there and attempt to keep them out of awareness through the defense of denial. Why do people do this? Because to admit to these longings is to admit that they are dependent on someone else to provide what they cannot provide for themselves. As I have said many times before, that feeling of being dependent is something that the sinful human nature abhors. One of the roots of sin is the spirit of independence; people don't like to feel that they have to depend on God for their lives to work. They much prefer to depend on themselves and are therefore sinful. "

For the fact that lucifer chose to be independent of God and chose to be on his own ought to wake us up to the idea and the thought that independence ain't just what it seems right? And the fight for independence in terms of gender and etc ... are they just as that or is there some underlying factor/thing that's happening?

Which brings me to the lives of couples... they live to be dependent and yet in some ways, independent of each other. But the part, the thought on the amount of effort that the couple put in to learn to be dependent on each other is something that, I guess, not to be taken lightly.

Marriage is probably a manner in which God wants to open up our eyes to see, and to learn to be dependent on Him as well.

Thoughts, thoughts....and revelation....undeniably from God.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my Shepherd
That's Relationship!

I shall not want
That's Supply!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
That's Rest!

He leadeth me beside the still waters.
That's Refreshment!

He restoreth my soul
That's Healing!

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness.
That's Guidance!

For His name sake
That's Purpose!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
That's Testing!

I will fear no evil.
That's Protection!

For Thou art with me
That's Faithfulness!

Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me,
That's Discipline!

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
That's Hope!

Thou anointest my head with oil,
That's Consecration!

My cup runneth over.
That's Abundance!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
That's Blessing!

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord.
That's Security!

Forever.
That's Eternity!
